OUR EXPERIMENT

If you're going to have to purchase an alarm system this is the best time to have to do it. Never have there been so many choices and so many price points. You can find affordable home alarms online or in big electronics stores or even at the local hardware store. This is why we ran into a problem. We had too many choices. Deb went online and looked at 20 different sites. Some were resellers and some were the manufacturers themselves. We looked at so many different types after awhile that we weren't sure what we needed or how we were even going to make a choice. Finally, I thought we should draw up a number of reasons we wanted the systems and then how much we could afford and then about how difficult it would be to install the systems. We did this. So next Saturday morning, when we are both home, we will draw up a very short list and then start either calling or asking for online quotes for those systems that we might want installed, or we will go get the ones that we can install ourselves. We got some coffee made. I cooked breakfast, and we sat down to look over our choices.

LOYAL

Rubbermaid Organizers were the ones that Debbie wanted to take a look at. She had in mind getting organizers for the kitchen drawers, the closets and for the garage. She had once known someone who had worked for Rubbermaid and she was going to be loyal. We went to a number of stores and got different organizers at different stores. At the first store we picked out several different types of organizers for the kitchen drawers. I put them into the SUV, then we went to the second store and looked for organizers for the closets. This was a harder choice, because there were so many different types of organizers. Debbie took her time, but finally chose two different ones. The last store we went to was for the garage organizers. I had a hard time deciding what to get here. I forgot to measure the space I was reserving for the organizers, so I had to guess at the dimensions of what I needed. I always thought that once I get the organizers home that I could adjust some things in the garage to make it fit. The garage was a mess, which was why we needed the organizers, so I cleared out a lot of stuff and threw it out.

ADS ONLINE

Lately, I've been getting a lot of spam emails about lasik eye surgery. Probably because I have been all over the net looking at different clinics and doctors. I get at least five different lasik offers per day. There was only one that I actually registered for a free exam. The only reason I did that was because it was close to home, just one suburb over. I went to this one alone, because Tara was expecting a delivery of materials for making over the family room. I looked at some of the things she wanted to do, and I think she has been inspired by our visits to the doctors and clinics. She actually ordered an eye chart. I thought she was joking, but she wasn't, because it came on Friday, in a tube. I hardly know what to expect. Jim said that I might come home and find a hundred magazines laid out for reading, just like a waiting room. I just laughed, but I wondered. So this next one that I went to did not make me feel comfortable. I waited for an hour, and the office was just filled with people. No doubt they had seen the same ad online.

SHORT STORIES

Growing up, I wanted to be a lot of things. A professional baseball player, a cowboy, an astronaut, and a novelist. When I did grow up, I became a personal injury attorney in Cleveland. It’s not exactly what I dreamed of every night as a child. In fact, I never really considered becoming a lawyer, let alone a personal injury attorney in Cleveland, until after I graduated college. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life then. I had a degree in English and a minor in philosophy, but there aren’t any English and philosophy factories for me to work at. I write all the time and get short stories published, but I never make enough to get by on just that. There’s a novel I kept hacking away at back then too, but that wasn’t making me any money. Finally, this girl I really liked told me how she was going to law school and that’s what gave me the idea to apply myself. No, I didn’t marry her. I lost touch with her a few months later actually. I don’t even know if she ever attended law school, but I’d like to thank her. I wouldn’t have this job now if not for her and I wouldn’t be living comfortably off its income.

THRIVING MAN

Mr. Callahan and I both ended up at another one of the local diabetes treatment plans sponsored by a local hospital. This one was much better. Mr. Callahan was the toast of the group, being 94 years old and not just surviving with the disease, but thriving, as they say. He kept everybody laughing, including the program director. I hate hospitals and medical establishments of any kind, so this made it much easier. And the time passed much quicker. The program director loaded us down with material, much of which we had already in one form or another. She talked a little bit about diet and exercise, and promised an individual program for each of us. Mr. Callahan joked that he can't wait until next week to get the material, at his advanced age and all. This had everybody in stitches. Though this was an interesting meeting, and I enjoyed Mr. Callahan's comments, I was wondering if I just couldn't' make myself stick to the diet and exercise. Work was getting to be overbearing, and I didn't want to be leaving early, or distracted. I thought that I might stick it out for another week or so, and see if it is not too much of a bother.

MOVIE NIGHT

It was Movie Night at Old Damascus College! Every Saturday night in Building E, the Film Group would show movies. There was no set admission charge, but if you wanted popcorn, Coke, or beer, you did need to pay money. Not a bad deal. Tonight was “Pink Flamingoes,” the John Waters classic. I knew this would bring out the punkers, and it sure did. In fact, Brad and I were standing in line waiting to get in and grab front seats when suddenly I recognized a student who had graduated (supposedly) two years before. It was Nancy—wasn’t it? “Brad. Brad, look,” I pointed. “Holy s—t!” he yelled. Heads turned in our direction. “Nancy Parkist!” She waved at us and Brad tried to get her to come over and rap with us, but apparently she had come with some of her current crowd. So for now we had to content ourselves with just—gazing at her. It was kind of like gazing at a dream of what she once was to us. Her hair was dyed ice blue, and it curled around her head in these humongous waves. “I bet Nancy got a hair transplant,” remarked Colin, who had just come into the line. I put my two cents in. “Well, I think Nancy wanted to look appropriate for John Waters night.” “Right, like you can—read her mind or something.” “Ha ha ha, that’s real funny.” My momentary chagrin at being jived, however, was quickly obliterated, because just then we were going into the auditorium and Nancy and her friends asked if they could join us!

NEWS MEDIA

The media, with its mushrooming news channels and minute by minute reporting has not only made the world a global village but is also fast on the move to unify public and private lives of people. Well here we go again the news media and political liberal strategists are once again attacking Rumsfeld. Ever wonder why the Political Leadership of the Democratic Party and the News Media are calling for the head of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld?
People get so sick of bad news that they wonder where is the good news. If you take a good look at the websites who deliver the content within Google news, you will notice that only a select few are providing all of the results. Nothing released onto the Internet ever goes away, so you may get traffic over a long time span, but we are aiming for a lot of traffic over a short time span – we expect most of the traffic will arrive within 3 to 7 days of submission to the various news release web sites.
The web, or Internet news release has a shorter life span than an article, but the traffic can come in a large surge, whereas an article will bring in a steady stream of visitors over a long time span. When there is a relevant and timely article in Google News, Google will serve you up that news item in the Google 'One-Box' above the #1 position when you do a web search on a keyword or phrase. By creating content related to news and events that a company’s potential customers would search for, you can get more visitors to the website.
As a website owner or someone who optimizes a website, the news can be a great inspiration for adding valuable content. And with time always being a major factor, adding fresh related content can become quite a chore for a website owner who is already hard pressed for time as it is on a daily basis while trying to keep up with all the other daily duties a online business requires. Simply because this is where website owners go to find fresh related content to publish in their newsletters or on their websites on a daily to weekly basis to feed their audiences need for Information.
Right now, it seems that "news centers" & "press release companies" related to your field online are profiting from these search results. Google news reports that other search engine companies are wishing to implement this new software and will be bidding on it for exclusive rights. In order to be a popular site on the web, webmasters will have to anticipate what people are searching for and make sure their sites are suggested by Google news.
Let the media rise up and give news and current affairs without scandalizing it and motivate people and remove the worst enemy that is fear. Like the media dummies already proved you cannot be trusted, why on Earth do you honestly think you can even ask? I mean I know Test pilots often push the envelope, but you people cannot expect to actually get satisfaction on that bizarre and ridiculous question. Yah right, the media has the tenacity to ask the Joint Chief of Staff, Pentagon and National Security council to tell you when and where everything will happen?
